Hello! I am an artist on a long journey through the world of paper cutting. I am in the realm of the scherenschnitte artists of Germany and Switzerland who used their scissors to amaze through detail and the Ashkenazi tradition of religious language cut with a knife. However, I take a different approach to paper cutting. Interested more in the limits of line, the elements of composition, and the capabilities of this 2-dimensional art, I use the past as a guide and inspiration to help me explore what paper cutting can do. Often featured in my artwork is the casual beauty of nature: flowers, birds, and landscapes.
The name Morning Cloudshine first came to me when experiencing the morning sun shine through thick rain clouds. As I stood in the rain, the sun breaking through, something about that moment felt very lovely and serene. And this is what I hope to share with you in my artwork: a love for the world around us.
